The 58,000-square-foot community center was the first building completed as part of the Union Drive Neighborhood – a collection of buildings that form the core of the innovative first-year residential academic community at Iowa State University. This facility provides multiple dining options for 1800 students, including themed food stations, a bakery, and a nonalcoholic sports bar. The community center also features a convenience store, game and exercise rooms, and a post office. A covered arcade at the base of the new residence halls and community center unifies the buildings.
The student center was featured on the cover of the January/February 2010 ACUHO-I publication, Talking Stick, as a part of the article “Designs Make a Difference,” by Bradford Angelini. |
